Brookwood Farm Sport Horses
Where Thoroughbreds find a life after the finish line!!!
The
future site of our 8 stall barn before the pine trees are knocked down and
any grading is done. We are taking the photo from our future arena.
That's the trencher we rented to install the silt fence. That was NOT
a fun job. We are definitely going to pay to have someone do that one
next time.
Fresh
grass plantings being protected from the damage these boys inflict on fresh
grass. We use electric tape to keep the horses off specific areas of
the pasture.
Our
main pasture before over-seeding.
Our front driveway and our new fence!!
The location of our new driveway...before it's torn up.
Our new driveway entrance heading North on Ebenezer.
Our beautiful new 4-board fence. We love it, but it was a lot of work. Always rent a 2-man auger when putting in this many fence posts.
Ground breaking on our new driveway....it's so exciting. Big machines...moving lots of dirt....Yeah!!!
Main pasture before the ground breaking.
Wow!
Now that didn't take long to flatten that out. The boys wallowing pond
is gone. No more mud baths!!!
Okay, that huge tree was knocked over by a little bobcat to make room for our new driveway. Minimal tree removal is our goal.
Now,
that's impressive....how Steve, our grader, got that huge rig in our
driveway....wow. It takes a lot to impress me with a truck and trailer
and I'm blown away.
Now that is a huge toy! And man can it move a lot of dirt!
Look at that pile of dirt! And look at how orange it is! Georgia Clay, everyone's enemy.
Our other pile of remnants from the days work.
The toys, parked for the day! Look at how flat that hill is....wow!
Our new driveway. Just a little more dirt movement and we'll be ready for gravel.
Our new driveway from the fish bowl...which is no longer. See how small those toys look from here....the biggest machine is that small spec in the middle of the picture.
Where the tree once stood. Now the beginnings of a driveway stand.
The resting spot for the tree that was taken out earlier today. We are
standing in the aisle of our future barn. I can almost taste it.
Looking out onto the location of our future arena from our future barn
aisle.
Looking East from the future barn aisle onto our parking pad and paddocks.
Looking on to where our driveway will pop out of the woods. The tree in front of us here will be gone shortly....no trees close to the barn.
Wow,
where the Cherry tree once stood. We are standing in the
fish bowl looking back toward the barn.
The boys checking out the new driveway. A little dusty, but they gave it their approval.
The
breakthrough into the parking pad and barn area. That really changed
things.
Where did all the pine trees go? Our row of huge pine trees is gone.
The
site for the barn. There used to be huge pine trees in that orange
patch. I hate to say it again, but WOW!!!
Looking back onto the barn and paddocks from the arena. I miss the pine trees, but we can't have them so close to the barn.
Oh,
there are the pine trees! New XC jumps for the property. That's
a project for this upcoming weekend.
The back pasture is a bit overgrown since the horses aren't back there anymore.
Okay,
those pine trees look so sad. We'll have to set them out as jumps so
they don't look so pathetic.
The boys standing on the barn pad checking out the new smells.
Looking
back toward the main road...our new driveway. Things are really
starting to change around here.
The
entrance to the parking pad from the driveway.
Turning left and looking onto our barn pad.
A
little bit further left looking at the far left edge of the parking and barn
pad. Still can't get over how bare it is.
Close up of the barn pad...once there were trees...now there stands nothing but dirt.
The
barn pad from the future arena. Wow has that elevation changed.
Ohh, there are the trees...okay, more stumps than trees. We have more
materials for our cross country jumps.
Standing in the future barn looking onto our parking pad and paddocks.
Looking
back onto where the driveway is going to come out onto the parking pad.
That sure is a mound of dirt.
We've been getting home too late to take pictures over the past couple of days. Wow take a look at the progress. Today is July 19th.
Our
new driveway...starting to look like a driveway.
That used to be a solid wall of tree in front of us. We now have a new paddock. The horses are going to love it. More grass
The
bowl has been leveled out and is now our only flat riding area until the
arena is done.
Disappearing through the woods to the parking pad.
Our
new view of the parking pad. All the telephone poles are being moved
to their new home to serve as our arena lights.
There used to be more grass off to the right. We'll have to plant some grass. It's hard to believe how thick this used to be with trees.
We
are parked in the barn aisle looking out onto the parking pad and paddocks.
Bailey and the other dogs decided they wanted to go for a car ride to
checkout the new playground.
The security crew checking things out. Scoping out their new
playground. The farm is just as much for them as it is for the horses.
The site of the future arena from the barn aisle. And the burn pile
has moved....to the left.
A close up of the leftover stumps. We have more logs to cut....which means more jumps for the horse park.
Where the burn pile once stood and where it moves to.
Standing in our future arena looking back onto the barn. My truck is
parked in the barn aisle of the arena.
Standing in the paddock looking onto the parking pad and the barn.
Standing in the side paddocks looking onto the barn. Wow, what an elevation change...it used to be level to where I'm standing.
Gravel for the start of the new driveway by the road. Looks like
tomorrow we are going to have the driveway completed. I can't wait.
Now we can start on the columns and the gate.
